For water jumper Moritz Wesemann, the World Championships in Budapest are over after his corona infection.
As the German Swimming Association (DSV) announced, the result of the PCR test ordered by the world association Fina is also positive. Participation in the competition from the one-meter board is no longer possible. After consultation with Fina, an individual isolated journey home is now being organized, according to the DSV.
Wesemann had tested positive for the corona virus in a quick test on Tuesday and therefore missed the World Cup final from the three-meter board. It was the first Corona case in the German team during the title fights.
“This development hits us as a team and especially Moritz personally very hard, but health always comes first for us,” head national coach Lutz Buschkow was quoted as saying in a statement from the German Swimming Association. The corona tests carried out on the other team members were negative.
