World Championships in Athletics: Fuchs Twelfth in the Javelin final

Javelin thrower Annika Marie Fuchs took twelfth place at the World Championships in Eugene after Kelsey-Lee Barber triumphed again. The 25-year-old threw 56.46 m, missing three and a half meters for the final battle of the top eight.

Fuchs did not really find her way into the competition, after 55.42 m in the first attempt her final distance and an invalid attempt followed. The best performance of the German runner-up is 63.68 m (2019).

Defending champion Barber prevailed with the annual world record of 66.91 m ahead of Kara Winger from the USA (64.05) and Haruka Kitaguchi from Japan (63.27). Olympic champion Liu Shiying (China) was only fourth. European Champion Christin Hussong (Zweibrücken) canceled her start at short notice.
