An incident in the men’s high jump caused the competition to be briefly interrupted at the German Athletics Championships in Berlin.
Two men broke into the interior and chained themselves to the high jump facility in the Olympic Stadium with cable ties. Both were led away by security personnel less later.
A movement called the “Last Generation” claimed responsibility in a statement. According to their statements, the men were 28 and 21 years old and wore T-shirts with the inscriptions “3 more years” and “North Sea oil? Nope!”.
The campaign was intended to draw attention to climate change and the resulting struggles over distribution of resources.
