Two-time Tour de France winner Tadej Pogacar has been thrown back by an infection with the corona virus in his preparation for the start of the season on the UAE Tour (February 20 to 26).
As his racing team UAE Team Emirates announced on Tuesday, the Slovenian had tested positive last week. The 23-year-old, who is said to have felt “mild symptoms”, won the UAE Tour last year.
“He underwent mandatory isolation before resuming light training,” said Adrian Rotunno, team UAE medical director. “He still has to undergo some final medical tests but should be well on his way to resuming his preparation for the first race of the season,” the team said in a statement.
