Managing Director Viktor Szilagyi fears that the numerous corona cases at the European Handball Championships in Hungary and Slovakia will also have an impact on THW Kiel and the Bundesliga.
One has to assume “that we will not experience February without game cancellations,” said the Austrian to the “Kieler Nachrichten”.
The German record champions have released nine players for the European Championship. The Swedish right winger Niclas Ekberg has recently been infected with the corona virus. The THW is scheduled to start the rest of the round on February 6 with the quarter-finals of the cup at the Rhein-Neckar Löwen. The first league game is scheduled for February 10th at TVB Stuttgart.
For Szilagyi, the health of the players is the top priority: “We will not skimp on repatriation tests. We know our players and have regular performance values from all of them, and we can assess their general condition regardless of their subjective feelings,” the 43-year-old continued.
