Thiem wants to be at 100 percent again

Former US Open winner Dominic Thiem hopes to be able to perform at his best again in the summer.

“The primary goal is to play like I did before,” said the 28-year-old Austrian on “Servus TV”: “When I was number three, played for the biggest titles and went on the pitch and I knew I could beat anyone.”

Tennis professional Thiem commented on the latest setback that forced him to cancel his participation in the ATP tournament in Cordoba in the program “Sport and Talk from Hangar-7”: “I have to be pain-free after such a long break when I go to the place. Unfortunately, that’s not the case yet.” A finger injury slowed him down.

Thiem played his last match to date in June 2021 against Frenchman Adrian Mannarino before lengthy wrist problems threw him back. Now he wants to pause for a few days and then decide on his next step.
