The Thunder will look to trade JaMychal Green

It’s only been a few weeks since his arrival, but it doesn’t look like JaMychal Green’s tenure with the Thunder will last much longer. According to Brandon Rahbar, a journalist for Daily ThunderSam Presti himself has assured that it is likely that the power forward will be transferred sooner rather than later, making his incorporation a kind of intermediate step in the face of more movements.

Green came to OKC along with a 2027 first-round pick in exchange for the pick 30 of the last draft, with which Denver chose Peyton Watson, and the second rounds of 2023 and 2024. Already at the time this movement took place, it was speculated that JaMychal was arriving as a potential piece for a future transfer, since his status as expiring and his seniority may attract a franchise along the way.

These are precisely the conditions that make it not make much sense for him or for the Thunder to prolong their union too long. Rahbar states that Presti has recognized that the franchise values Green as a player, but that they consider that, in the process of reconstruction, it makes no sense to keep him in the squad and that the most sensible thing is to find a place for him in another team.

Green has averaged 7.2 points and 4.5 rebounds in the two seasons he has spent in Denver, in which he has been a player with some weight in the second unit, a role that, once he leaves, he will be able to continue. playing on other teams.
