The Cleveland Cavaliers have bolstered their already potent interior line with the signing of Robin Lopez. The veteran center will sign a one-year contract charging the veteran minimum. Which in his case amounts to 2.9 million. Lopez thus chains his fifth team in the last five years after going through the Bulls, Bucks, Wizards and Magic.
JB Bickerstaff’s team is characterized by a firm commitment to quintets that add up to three hypothetical pivots. Or at least players with the centimeters and wingspan enough to act as center. However, his second unit only had Kevin Love as a reliable interior, so adding Robin Lopez means being able to double his bet with sufficient guarantees. In his last year at Orlando, Lopez has averaged 17 minutes, 7.1 points and 3.5 rebounds per night. But above all, he has been a mentor to the young core of Florida, a role that he will also be able to play perfectly in Ohio.
