The Charlotte Hornets retain Jalen McDaniels

With the term to exercise contractual team or player options nearing the end, the Charlotte Hornets have decided retain Jalen McDaniels. The small forward will receive 1.9 million dollars next season. Or at least that’s the idea, because this contract will not be fully guaranteed until next August 1. If he reaches that date without being cut, the player will enter the final year of his contract before becoming a restricted free agent in the summer of 2023.

McDaniels has been an important element of James Borrego’s rotation, averaging 16 minutes and 6.2 points on solid percentages. Although his greatest contribution is in the defensive section and dirty work. The Hornets have yet to decide the future of Gordon Hayward and Miles Bridges, the team’s leading forwards. So McDaniels could find a sweet spot in his contract year.
