Lisa Tertsch celebrated the biggest success of her career so far at the World Triathlon Championships Series race in Hamburg. The 23-year-old from Darmstadt won bronze in the sprint distance – just 17 seconds behind Olympic champion Flora Duffy (Bermuda). Second was the British Beth Potter.
“Today all the pieces of the puzzle finally fit together,” said the former U23 European champion and U23 World Cup third-place finisher about her greatest success in the highest triathlon league: “I worked on swimming in the winter, so I’m in all the races this year I was part of the first bike group. I knew that I was in good shape and I’m glad that I finally managed to get a top result.”
Tertsch needed a total time of 58:53 minutes to swim 750 meters, cycle 20 kilometers and run 5 kilometers. In addition to the Darmstadt native, the German sprint distance champion Laura Lindemann (5th), Anabel Knoll (6th) and Sprint European Champion Nina Eim (9th) ensured three other top ten finishes.
