Tennis: German duo creates Australian Open qualification

The tennis pros Maximilian Marterer and Yannick Hanfmann made it into the main draw of the Australian Open through qualification.

The Nuremberg martyr prevailed in the last qualifying round in the German duel against Tobias Kamke 6: 4, 6: 1, Hanfmann beat the Italian Alessandro Giannessi 7: 6 (7: 3), 7: 6 (8: 6).

This means that there are eight German men around Olympic champion Alexander Zverev at the Australian Open, which begins on Monday, and three-time Grand Slam winner Angelique Kerber is leading a German trio in the women’s main draw.

Jule Niemeier failed in the last qualifying round with 1: 6, 6: 1, 3: 6 at Arianne Hartono from the Netherlands.
