The favorites Barbora Krejcikova and Katerina Siniakova won their fourth Grand Slam title in doubles at the Australia Open after initial difficulties.
The tennis duo from the Czech Republic beat outsiders Anna Danilina/Beatriz Haddad Maia (Kazakhstan/Brazil) 6:7 (3:7), 6:4, 6:4 in the Melbourne final.
For Krejcikova/Siniakova it was already the fifth final participation in one of the four major tournaments, for the first time they triumphed Down Under.
Krejcikova (26) and Siniakova (25) had previously won at the French Open (2018, 2021) and Wimbledon (2018).
At the Olympic Games in Tokyo and at the WTA Finals last year, the title went to the successful duo.
Krejcikova/Siniakova, who have been competing together since 2016, prevailed on Sunday after 2:44 hours.
