After a long injury break, national soccer player Marina Hegering does not feel in top form shortly before the start of the European Championship, but is “very satisfied” with her level of performance.
“It goes without saying that I’m not at 100 percent yet. But I feel very good for the position I can have at the moment,” said the central defender in the media round on Sunday in Herzogenaurach.
The 32-year-old made her comeback in the DFB team after a seven-month break on Friday with a 7-0 (2-0) win in the EM dress rehearsal against Switzerland. Due to injury, Hegering has only been able to play four competitive games for FC Bayern this year, only one of them in the Bundesliga team.
Hegering still showed a decent performance in the center of defense alongside the strong Kathrin Hendrich. “She has developed a lot of self-confidence over the course of the season and can play really freely. She confirms it again and again, so we can be really happy that she is in such good form,” said Hegering, who will be moving to VfL Wolfsburg for the coming season changes, about her future club colleague.
