Second division leaders FC St. Pauli go into the round of 16 of the DFB Cup against Borussia Dortmund (Tuesday, 8:45 p.m. / ARD and Sky) without fear.
“We’re making some calculations, even though we know that we’re not necessarily the favourites,” said coach Timo Schultz on Monday. The Kiezkicker will “go in full steam and try to score goals”.
Even after three games without a win, St. Pauli was “anticipating” the game against the defending champion, said Schultz. At BVB there are “world champions, absolute superstars, world-class players – unfortunately they don’t show up at the Millerntor that often”.
Nevertheless, his team will “push up against this opponent and put our strengths on the pitch,” announced the 44-year-old: “In order to minimize the opponent’s strengths, we have to come up with some tactical ideas.”
