ski jumping | Injury shock: Olympic champion threatens Beijing-Aus

Ski jumping Olympic champion Kamil Stoch was injured around three weeks before the Olympic Winter Games and has to worry about starting in Beijing.

The 34-year-old Pole will surely miss the upcoming home game in Zakopane, Poland, due to an ankle injury.

“I was warming up and I was inattentive for a second. I don’t even know how to describe it and then the pain came. The ankle is swollen and discolored. The consultation with the doctors, treatments and diagnosis took a few hours”, Stoch wrote on social media. He reported a capsule rupture.

Even before the injury in training, the Pole, who won two Olympic golds in 2014 and another Olympic victory in 2018, went through a difficult phase. At the Four Hills Tournament he had no chance as the defending champion and therefore got out early.
