Mario Stevens from Molbergen in Lower Saxony is the German Show Jumping Champion for the second time after 2018.

At the German Championships in Balve, the 39-year-old won on the nine-year-old Hanoverian gelding Starissa with two clear rounds on Sunday ahead of Philipp Rüping (1) with Casallco. Joint thirds were Marcus Ehning with A La Carte NRW and Patrick Stühlmeyer with Carmina 51, each with four penalties.

The German Nations Cup squad of national coach Otto Becker was not present in Balve. At the same time, the team led by European champion André Thieme won the Nations Cup tournament in Sopot, Poland.

In the separately held Amazon Championship, the title in Balve went to Katrin Eckermann on the nine-year-old stallion Cascadello-Boy.

World champion Simone Blum, who finished twelfth with Diachacco, was also part of the starting field. In 2016, Blum won the Amazon classification in Balve with her miracle mare Alice and from there started a triumphal procession that culminated in winning the 2018 World Championship title in Tryon.
