Schalke 04: Sorted out sextet before returning

Six loan players who were actually sorted out long ago will start training again at FC Schalke 04 on Monday.

The confirmed sports director Rouven Schröder on Friday.

These are Amine Harit (last Olympique Marseille), Ozan Kabak (Norwich City), Rabbi Matondo (Cercle Brugge), Hamza Mendyl (Gaziantep), Can Bozdogan (Besiktas) and Levent Mercan (Karagümrük).

“It is planned that they will come and start training,” said Schröder. The sextet still plays no role in Schalke’s sporting plans. There is “currently no back door,” Schröder affirmed.

This procedure was also agreed with the new head coach Frank Kramer. “We don’t build castles in the air. Frank knows our strategy and philosophy in transfer management and follows the path completely. You can wish for a lot, but I don’t always get all the presents at Christmas,” said Schröder, who overestimated the maintenance costs for Schalke Place professionals as quickly as possible to other clubs and thus get them off the payroll.

FC Schalke 04 in “positive talks”

“There is a daily update with the players and the consultants. These talks are very positive,” said the S04 sports director. “If we have the feeling that we are in final talks with a club, the player may not have to travel.” However, this is obviously not the case at the moment.

Schröder added: “I’m always a positive person and I’m convinced that we will solve things. On the other hand: If things aren’t solved yet, we have full respect for the players who have signed employment contracts with us. At one is quicker, the other takes a little longer.”

At least for Harit, Kabak and Matondo, those responsible for Schalke expect millions in revenue. Part of this could then in turn flow into newcomers.
