SC Magdeburg beats Minden again

SC Magdeburg has reported back after the EM break with a befitting success in the Handball Bundesliga.

The table leader won 28:19 (13:8) against GWD Minden and thus consolidated the place at the top. In the last league game to date on December 26, Magdeburg suffered their first defeat of the season at SG Flensburg-Handewitt.

The 17th victory in the 18th game followed on Wednesday. The Icelander Omar Ingi Magnusson (eight goals) and the Dane Magnus Saugstrup (four) were the most successful throwers of the SCM, which had already triumphed in the quarter-finals of the DHB Cup against Minden last Sunday. Mohamed Darmoul convinced with six goals at the bottom of the table from Minden.

Meanwhile, Frisch Auf Göppingen has suffered a setback in the race for international places. The sixth in the table lost 27:33 (9:17) against Bergisches HC.

HBW Balingen-Weilstetten also had to admit defeat after the last three draws. The club lost 25:29 (12:16) against DHfK Leipzig and remains penultimate.
