SBU clearer advertises Smolcic

Eintracht Frankfurt is apparently about to sign a new central defender: Hrvoje Smolcic from Croatia could strengthen the SGE in the future. A summer newcomer from Frankfurt has now also stirred the advertising drum for the 21-year-old.

Hrvoje Smolcic could reportedly be the next player to join Eintracht Frankfurt. The Croatian U21 national player is actually under contract with his youth club HNK Rijeka until 2023.

As the “kicker” reported, Eintracht is apparently willing to pay a transfer fee of two to three million euros for the defender.

It is possible, according to the trade journal, that Smolcic will be loaned to Rijeka for the rest of the season after a winter change to build up match practice. The Croatian portal “” also reported on an impending change. Accordingly, Rijeka has received an offer of 2.5 million euros and a 25 to 30 percent profit share in a resale.

Jakic on Smolcic: “Eintracht loves fighting players”

Should the deal go through, Smolcic will meet a compatriot at SGE in Kristijan Jakic. The 24-year-old only switched from Dinamo Zagreb to Hessen last summer. The defensive midfielder is initially only on loan, but Frankfurt has a purchase option.

Jakic has already advertised a move from Smolcic to Frankfurt in advance. “Eintracht loves fighting players – he would fit in very well here,” quoted “image” the clearer.

Smolcic is “solid, strong and self-confident”, the 1.81 meter tall right foot described the Frankfurt transfer target. “He would continue to develop at Eintracht. Here he would have to work on himself, under very good conditions. I would be the first to help him settle in here.” However, the two-time national player does not know how far the talks actually are.
