Marco Giampaolo is apparently the new coach of the Italian first division soccer team Sampdoria Genoa. The 54-year-old has agreed a contract with the Ligurian club until June 30. This was reported by the “Gazzetta dello Sport”.
The coach will only officially take over his position on Wednesday. Interim coach Felice Tufano will be on the coaching bench for the game against record champions Juventus Turin scheduled for Tuesday evening. Giampaolo had already coached Sampdoria between 2016 and 2019.
Sampdoria had parted ways with his coach Roberto D’Aversa on Monday. The club drew the consequences of the 2-1 defeat in the home game against FC Torino on Sunday. Sampdoria is currently 15th in the Serie A table with 20 points.
