Rickey Paulding’s farewell game in Oldenburg announced

The career of long-running basketball player Rickey Paulding from EWE Baskets Oldenburg will be honored at a farewell game in June.

As announced by the Bundesliga basketball team, the 39-year-old is to bid farewell to the EWE Arena on June 4th. The Baskets expect one of “the most emotional moments in the history” of the club. Between 2007 and 2022, the American Paulding played exclusively for Lower Saxony in the BBL.

“This will be a very special moment for me and my family,” Paulding was quoted as saying in a statement: “All these memories, the people here who have accompanied me on and off the court for these 15 years. I hope that despite as many fans as possible can be there during the pandemic.”

The Baskets captain announced his departure after his 15th season in the BBL in October. In 2009 he won the championship and in 2015 he won the cup. At the weekend Paulding played his 575th Bundesliga game and decided the duel against BG Göttingen with 86:85 with a goal a few seconds before the end.
