RB star wants to go back to Spain

RB Leipzig left-back Angeliño wants to return to his Spanish homeland in the long term.

“To play again in Spain one day remains my dream. I’ve been abroad since I was 15 years old. I want to go back home and play again for my home club Deportivo La Coruña,” said the 25-year-old professional from the German Cup winner in an interview with “Bild am Sonntag” and at the same time made it clear: “But don’t stress, everything is fine at the moment as it is. I want to be successful with Leipzig next season too. My family is moving in with me now. Then I have everything that makes me happy.”

The defender, who was initially loaned out by Manchester City in winter 2020 and then signed, had already started RB training with five other professionals last Monday, before the majority of the 17 national players who have been posted are expected to return on Sunday for medical tests.

“It was very important for the head to leave everything behind and spend time with the family. I was in Mallorca and Ibiza and didn’t think about football for a second,” said Angeliño, who still has a contract in Leipzig until 2025 Has.

Regarding the goals with RB, he said: “As always: attack in every competition. But the bar is now very high. We won the cup and were the best team in the second half of the season.”

Above all, the Spaniard sees a new spirit in the team. “When Domenico Tedesco came to us, everything changed in the team, especially the mentality.”

At the same time, he praised top scorer Christopher Nkunku’s decision to remain: “His situation with us is comfortable: he has a regular place, was very successful, plays in the Champions League. There was no reason for a change. For us, that’s extreme important. Christo is an incredible player.”
