Public Prosecutor’s Office: Investigations in the Beerbaum case possible

The public prosecutor’s office in Münster does not rule out investigations into the Ludger Beerbaum case.

“We’re keeping an eye on it,” said a spokesman. The broadcaster RTL had accused the 58-year-old show jumper of animal cruelty in a post on “RTL Extra”.

According to this, Beerbaum is said to have used the illegal parallel bars training method on his show jumpers. Beerbaum, who is currently in Wellington, Florida, vehemently rejected the allegations and announced legal action.

According to the public prosecutor’s office, it should now be awaited whether the German Equestrian Federation will approach them with the film material. The association had stated that it wanted to inform the public prosecutor’s office about the contribution “so that they can assess the facts on the basis of the Animal Welfare Act”.

In a possible preliminary investigation, it could also be examined to what extent there was a connection with the proceedings from last year, said the spokesman for the public prosecutor’s office.

As early as May 2021, the German Equestrian Federation had filed a complaint against an unknown person with the police for a possible violation of the Animal Welfare Act. The public prosecutor’s office in Münster had stopped the investigation last November.
