Preuss arrived in Beijing on time

After surviving the corona infection and a long break from competition, ex-world champion Franziska Preuss traveled punctually with the German biathlon team to the Olympics in Beijing.

The 27-year-old, third overall in the previous season, arrived in China with the team from Frankfurt. Most recently, the Bavarian had left open whether she might be able to arrive late after her health problems and not initially accompany the team.

National coach Mark Kirchner has planned the first on-site training session in Zhangjiakou for February 2nd, and the mixed relay competitions will start on February 5th. It is more than unlikely that Preuss will start, but the customs officer from SC Haag could be used in the individual races next week if she can continue to train normally.

Prussia “fights every day”

At the end of December, Preuss had contracted the corona virus after suffering a foot injury shortly before and thus missed the World Cups in Oberhof, Ruhpolding and Antholz. Previously, she was considered one of the greatest German hopes for a medal among the ski hunters, but now, after her forced break, she is taking part in her third Winter Games under completely different circumstances.

“I fight every day to be competitive there,” said Preuss, who described her corona infection as mentally quite stressful, the previous week.
