Pogacar shines and takes the yellow jersey

Defending champion Tadej Pogacar won the sixth stage of the 109th Tour de France and thus got the yellow jersey early.

The 23-year-old from UAE Team Emirates prevailed on the longest stage after 219.9 km from Binche to Longwy in the uphill sprint ahead of Australian Michael Matthews and Frenchman David Gaudu.

The Belgian Wout van Aert (Jumbo-Visma), who had been in the lead for hours as a soloist, was passed in the final phase and had to give up the overall lead.
