Petersen does not rule out leaving SC Freiburg

Striker Nils Petersen has not yet made a decision about staying with Bundesliga club SC Freiburg beyond the summer.

“Today you plan like this, in two weeks you plan differently again. I also make it dependent on my physical condition,” said the 33-year-old in the “Eurosport” interview. “I don’t think the club would put any obstacles in my way if I wanted to change. They would probably offer me a new contract if I said I wanted to attack again.”

Most recently, Petersen had to be content with the role of reservist in Baden. “If you don’t play, you’re disappointed, then one or the other interesting offer comes in. You then think about it, even though you really don’t want to leave. It’s complicated,” said the goalscorer.

“The only thing I’m certain of is that I want to be on the pitch for as long as possible. That’s why I’m keeping my options open and making no promises.” However, he can rule out a move to Qatar or China. “Respect for those who do it, but that wouldn’t be my world.” The striker has been playing in Freiburg since the summer of 2015.
