As expected, Claudia Pechstein missed out on a top 10 place at the all-round world championships in speed skating in Hamar/Norway.
The 50-year-old Berliner came 15th in the 1500m race on Sunday (2:04.43 minutes) and was 13th in the overall ranking with 125.686 points. The five-time Olympic champion failed to qualify for the final of the top eight over 5000 m. The races over 500 and 3000 m took place on Saturday.
Two weeks after the Winter Games in Beijing, Pechstein finished her 25th Allround World Championships ahead of the second German starter, Leia Behlau from Inzell (15th/125.875). Gold went to triple Olympic champion Irene Schouten from the Netherlands (158.974).
Pechstein plans to end the season next weekend at the World Cup finals in Heerenveen in the Netherlands.
