Paul Wanner before another milestone against 1. FC Köln

Although the FC Bayern squad will be filled with seasoned professionals again before the game against 1. FC Köln, youngster Paul Wanner also beckons to play in the second game of the second half of the Bundesliga season.

As coach Julian Nagelsmann confirmed at the press conference on Friday, the 16-year-old midfielder is also in the German record champions’ matchday squad for the duel on Saturday afternoon (3:30 p.m.) against 1. FC Köln. 17-year-old Lucas Copado is also traveling to Cologne.

Nagelsmann wanted to reward Wanner for his successful Bundesliga debut in the 2-1 defeat against Borussia Mönchengladbach last matchday, according to a report by “Sport1”. Whether he will actually be used against Effzeh is still open.

Wanner made history against Gladbach. At the tender age of 16 years and 15 days, the midfielder was substituted on by Nagelsmann around 15 minutes before the end and has thus secured a place in the annals of Bundesliga history.

After BVB’s Youssoufa Moukoko (16 years and one day), Paul Wanner is the youngest player ever to appear in the Bundesliga. The homegrown player was allowed to come on for Marc Roca in the final minutes and entered the pitch alongside Lucas Copado, who, at 17, is only slightly older than Wanner himself.

The jewel then received special praise from the head coach: “He’s an incredible talent, left foot, very fast, very sure of the ball, courageous. He has to keep his head clear, then the door is open to him. If he doesn’t keep his head clear, it will close again soon.”

Against 1. FC Köln, Nagelsmann can almost draw on his full potential again. With the exception of Lucas Hernández, all professionals infected with Corona have returned to team training. However, Leon Goretzka (patellar tendon irritation) and Kingsley Coman (hamstring problems) are probably out.
