Ortega says goodbye to Arminia Bielefeld

Goalkeeper Stefan Ortega said goodbye to second division soccer team Arminia Bielefeld with emotional words.

“It’s time to say goodbye. I wanted to thank Arminia Bielefeld for an unbelievable 12 years. It was an indescribable journey in which I developed enormously, both athletically and personally,” wrote the 29-year-old on Instagram.

He will always be an Arminia fan. “I wish the upcoming team and all fans only the best and maximum success.”

According to media reports, Ortega is about to move to the Premier League. As the “kicker” and “Sky” reported, he should be drawn to Manchester City. With the English champions, he is planned as number two behind the Brazilian regular keeper Ederson.

Ortega went through the youth department of Arminia and developed into one of the best goalkeepers in the Bundesliga. In total, the former U19 national keeper has played 67 Bundesliga and 170 second division games so far. Since the contract in Bielefeld expires on June 30, Ortega could switch for free.
