Olympics 2022| Alpine skiing: Goggia’s start uncertain: “Can’t guarantee anything”

The ailing ski racer Sofia Goggia has to worry about the start in the downhill despite her journey to the Olympics in China.

“Being here is a great success, but I can’t guarantee anything,” said the Italian, who won Olympic gold in the supreme discipline in 2018 and was by far the best downhill skier in the World Cup this winter.

However, she suffered a knee injury in a fall in January in the Super-G in Cortina d’Ampezzo.

This was not operated on, Goggia relied on physiotherapy and the small chance of being able to start in the Olympic downhill on February 15th despite an injured knee.

“The conditions are as they are. I still have a little time, but I can’t guarantee anything, not even my participation in the descent,” said the 29-year-old to the Italian TV station Rai.
