Olympic time trial champion Annemiek van Vleuten will retire at the end of 2023.
This was announced by her Spanish team Movistar, with whom she had previously extended the contract for another season.
The 39-year-old Dutchwoman is considered one of the most successful cyclists of the past decade. She became road cycling world champion in 2017, 2018 and 2019, and in 2021 she won Olympic gold in the individual time trial in Tokyo.
In the road race, van Vleuten had previously finished second.
