Olympia: German snowboarder duo misses slopestyle finals

The snowboarders Leon Vockensperger (Rosenheim) and Noah Vicktor (Bischofswiesen) missed the finals in slopestyle on their Olympic debut.

At the premiere of German athletes in the Olympic discipline, which has only been Olympic for eight years, Vicktor finished 16th in qualifying on Sunday. After two falls, Vockensperger finished 29th, only second to last.

With 62.56 points, Vicktor was just five points behind twelfth place, which would have been enough to qualify for the finals on Monday (from 5:00 a.m. CET). The 20-year-old fell in the first run, but in the second run he showed an almost flawless performance.

Vockensperger also fell on the hard artificial snow in Zhangjiakou. “I have extreme pain in the rib area,” said the 22-year-old, who scored 26.41 points, the SID: “The second fall finished me.” Last Wednesday, the man from Rosenheim fell on his injured knee during the first training session in China and therefore started qualifying on painkillers.

On February 14, Vockensperger and Vicktor will start in the Big Air competition.
