Defending champion Nyck de Vries missed the second victory at the Formula E opening weekend in Diriyah/Saudi Arabia.
After a long lead and several collisions, the Mercedes driver fell back to tenth place. On Friday evening, the Dutchman secured victory at the start at the same place.
On Saturday, the Swiss Edoardo Mortara (Venturi) prevailed in front of Robin Frijns (Netherlands/Envision) and his teammate Lucas di Grassi (Brazil).
Andre Lotterer (Duisburg/Porsche) finished fourth after a good race. The day before, Lotterer dropped back to 13th place after problems in the final phase. Pascal Wehrlein (Worndorf/Porsche) took ninth place in the night race, Maximilian Günther (Oberstdorf/Nissan) was disappointing in 15th place.
The next race will take place in Mexico City on February 12th. A total of 16 races are planned for the eighth Formula E season. In Germany, the grounds of Berlin’s closed Tempelhof Airport will again be used (May 14/15). It is only the second time that the series is about a world championship title.
