New prospects for Gladbach star Ginter

It was one of the big topics on this 19th Bundesliga matchday: Matthias Ginter, previously always seeded, was only on the bench for Borussia Mönchengladbach for 90 minutes in the Rhenish duel against Bayer Leverkusen. And less for performance reasons than for strategic reasons, the previous regular player should be sold if possible in the next two weeks.

It would be the last opportunity to generate transfer income for the 28-year-old after Ginter announced his decision not to extend his contract with the Lower Rhine.

Actually, the central defender is absolutely set in the defensive of Borussia, has been in the starting lineup of the Fohlenelf in 16 of the 19 Bundesliga games. Gladbach lost all three games in which Ginter did not play.

After the much-criticized decision to let the defense chief stew on the bench despite his previously shown top performance at Bayern, speculation about the change of the 2014 world champion got rolling again.

According to information from “kicker”, Ginter currently has two offers from the English Premier League on the table. So far, however, there have been no intensive or concrete transfer talks between the parties.

Inter and Atlético on the list of interested parties

The native of Freiburg should anyway insist more on a Gladbach farewell only after the end of the season. According to consistent media reports, two current national champions have knocked on the door of Ginter for a free transfer in the summer.

Both Inter Milan from Italy and Atlético Madrid from Spain have the defender on their list and are hoping for a transfer bargain for the coming season.

It is not to be expected that Ginter will return to the Gladbach starting line-up in the next competitive game on the coming cup Wednesday at Hannover 96 (from 6:30 p.m.). Head coach Adi Hütter, who is responsible for the decision together with sports director Max Eberl, hopes that the series of defeats will finally break without the German international in the line-up.
