Müller beats Lewandowski, Neuer and Co

Thomas Müller is Bayern Munich’s player of the 2021/22 season. This was the result of a survey among Munich supporters.

With around 26 percent of the votes, Müller clearly prevailed over Jamal Musiala with 19 percent and Robert Lewandowski with 18 percent. Manuel Neuer came in fourth (10 percent), Joshua Kimmich (9 percent) was fifth.

Lewandowski had won the award last year.

Thomas Müller was promoted to the professionals in 2009 from his own offspring. Since then he has played 626 competitive games for FC Bayern and scored 227 goals.

Eleven German championships, six victories in the DFB Cup and the Champions League titles in 2013 and 2020 are also in Müller’s impressive CV. In addition, the native of Upper Bavaria received numerous individual awards.

In the past Bundesliga season, Müller scored eight goals in 32 games. There are also 21 templates. No other Buli player prepared more goals.

Müller extended at Bayern

Müller only extended his contract with the German record champions in May until 2024.

“Thomas Müller is a figure we can identify with and carries our club’s coat of arms in his heart. FC Bayern has always been characterized by continuity, and that’s why we’re happy that we’ve managed to extend the contract with this important player,” said CEO Oliver Kahn back then and added: “He’s someone who takes the lead, and he’s also an important character with his style in the dressing room.”

Müller himself also commented on his contract extension: “I am very pleased to have extended my contract with FC Bayern Munich until 2024 today. The path we have shared together since I switched to the FCB youth team in 2000 has been a fantastic success story so far. It I really enjoy holding up the red colors on and off the field every year. Even when the wind is blowing in your face. So let’s keep doing it together!”
