According to a report, Premier League promoted FC Brentford want to sign the contractless Danish football international Christian Eriksen. But there should also be interest from the Bundesliga.
According to online magazine The Athletic, the London club, currently 14th in the table, have offered 29-year-old Eriksen a six-month contract with an option to extend for another season.
Dutch media are now reporting that clubs from the Bundesliga, the Eredivisie and from outside Europe are also interested in the Danish international. According to “De Telegraaf” and “De Limburger” PSV was Eindhoven, but the contact did not lead to anything as Eriksen prefers a move to the Premier League. Recently there had also been rumors that his training club Ajax Amsterdam should have good cards.
As “Sky Sports” reports, FC Brentford is one of a number of English clubs that want to sign the 29-year-old. “Physically I’m in top form again,” said the Dane in early January. “My heart is not an obstacle.”
Premier League: Eriksen back at Tottenham?
Spurs coach Antonio Conte, who coached Eriksen at Inter Milan between 2020 and 2021, also emphasized that “the door is always open” with the north Londoners, where the Danish international was under contract from 2013 to 2020 and scored 69 goals in 305 games was able to score and prepared 90 more goals.
Eriksen collapsed from cardiac arrest during the group stage match against Finland at last year’s European Championship and had to be resuscitated. A defibrillator was then inserted into the midfielder.
The contract with his club Inter Milan was terminated because he is not allowed to play in the Italian Serie A with a defibrillator in place.
Eriksen had only recently confirmed his ambitions to return to football and expressed hope of playing with Denmark at the World Cup in Qatar later this year. “My goal is to be at the World Cup in Qatar. I want to play,” said the former Tottenham professional in an interview with Danish TV station “DR1”.
