Two-time Paralympic champion Anna-Lena Forster won the first gold medal for the German team at the Para Snow Sports World Championships in Lillehammer, Norway.
The 26-year-old monoskier prevailed on Friday in the downhill ahead of Barbara van Bergen from the Netherlands and Katie Combaluzier from Canada and thus won her second world title overall.
“It feels great. Now a load has been lifted from me and I can go into the next competitions a little more relaxed,” said Forster. The day before, the paraplegic Paralympic champion Anja Wicker had won bronze over 7.5 kilometers in cross-country skiing.
The para snow sports world championships with world championships in alpine skiing, Nordic skiing (cross-country skiing and biathlon) and snowboarding were originally supposed to take place in February 2021, but then had to be postponed due to the corona pandemic. They are now the dress rehearsal for the Paralympics in Beijing from March 4th to 13th.
