Kristina Mladenovic and Ivan Dodig won their first joint Grand Slam title in mixed at the Australian Open of tennis professionals.
The Franco-Croatian duo defeated Australian wildcard pairing Jaimee Fourlis and Jason Kubler 6-3, 6-4 in Melbourne on Friday. Mladenovic and Dodig were number five on the seed list.
In men’s doubles, the Australians will certainly be able to celebrate a win at their home Grand Slam on Saturday as Nick Kyrgios and Thanasi Kokkinakis meet Matthew Ebden and Max Purcell in an Australian final.
In singles, the Australian world number one Ashleigh Barty can choose the winner on Saturday against the American surprise finalist Danielle Collins.
