Zion Williamson has extended his contract with the New Orleans Pelicans in the North American professional league NBA by five years.
According to an ESPN report on Sunday, the new contract is worth $193 million. Should the top pick of the 2019 NBA draft be selected to the All-Star team next season, a clause nets him an additional $38 million.
The 21-year-old power forward was considered one of college’s greatest talents but has struggled with injuries since he started in the NBA and has only played 85 games in three years. The past season, in which the Pelicans failed in the first round of the playoffs at the Phoenix Suns, Williamson missed completely with a broken right foot.
