Marc Marquez gives recovery update after arm surgery

MotoGP rider Marc Márquez has commented on the recovery six weeks after the fourth operation on the injured right upper arm. In a message from employer Honda, Márquez is satisfied with the healing. The treating doctors in Madrid also draw a positive interim conclusion.

“We have taken an important step in our recovery process,” said Márquez. “On this second visit, the doctors have confirmed that the humerus is strengthening properly so that we can begin physical therapy for the right arm and cardio training.”

“I am delighted to have regained mobility in my arm to continue the recovery process and I would like to thank the entire medical team for their care and attention,” shared Márquez.

Chief physician satisfied with the healing process

Doctor Sanchez Sotelo, head of shoulder and elbow surgery at the Mayo Clinic in Madrid, also seems satisfied: “The medical examination of Marc Márquez six weeks after the operation on the right humerus confirmed a good clinical and radiological development, the progress in restoring mobility and strength to the right arm.”

The patient will undergo another examination within the next six weeks,” says Doctor Sanchez Sotelo. It is still unclear whether Márquez can still make his comeback in the current MotoGP season. HRC team manager Alberto Puig wishes that Márquez still returns before the winter break to drive development of the Honda RC213V.
