Manchester instead of BVB or FC Bayern? United in “good talks” with Zakaria

Denis Zakaria will leave Borussia Mönchengladbach by the end of the season at the latest. BVB and FC Bayern are considered interested, but apparently significantly more clubs are involved in poker for the central midfielder. Recruitment from England could put a spanner in the works for the squad planners from Dortmund and Munich.

In the current winter transfer period, Borussia Mönchengladbach can generate a transfer fee for Denis Zakaria for the last time. It has been clear for a few days that the Swiss will not extend his expiring contract with the Fohlen-Elf.

With a sale in January, Gladbach would at least waive a single-digit million sum, the TV station “Sport1” assumes around six million euros. The foals recently spent that sum on defender Marvin Friedrich, who is to replace Matthias Ginter.

Borussia Dortmund has been repeatedly associated with Zakaria from the Bundesliga. In addition to BVB, FC Bayern has also been mentioned in the past when it came to possible buyers for the 25-year-old.

But there should also be interest in the midfielder from the Premier League. Unlike the German clubs, who probably want to get Zakaria after his contract ends in the summer and thus on a free transfer, Manchester United is apparently working on a transfer in winter. As Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano reports, the interest is great. An official offer from the English record champions is said to have not yet been made.

Sport1” also reports that squad planner Matt Judge has already had “good talks” with the Zakaria side. The Swiss was recently traded with city rivals Manchester City. In addition, Juventus has been a hot candidate for a commitment for weeks and could already join this month Gladbach to make representations.

According to Fabrizio Romano, more than four clubs are currently working on signing the center player on a free transfer in the summer. The transfer reporter does not name specific names, but at the same time speaks of an “open race”.

In 2017, Zakaria switched from the Young Boys from Bern to the Lower Rhine for around twelve million euros. Since then, the national player has completed 144 games for Gladbach. The next few days and weeks will show how many more missions will be added.
