Manchester City coach reveals the status of Haaland

Shaun Goater once scored 103 goals in 211 games for Manchester City. In autumn 2021, the former Bermuda international returned to his former club as a youth coach. So the 51-year-old knows what the Sky Blues are about. Only the statements that Goater made regarding a possible commitment from BVB star Erling Haaland caused a corresponding amount of attention.

Confronted with the rumors on social media that Manchester City was one of the clubs courting Erling Haaland from BVB, Goater replied: “We are so close. I’m doing my best.” This reports the “Sun“.

It is unclear what influence Goater will have on transfer planning at Etihad Stadium. However, the former striker has played alongside Haaland’s father Alf-Inge Haaland for three years in Manchester. The past few months have shown that he definitely has a say.

On the other hand, it has not yet been proven that Haaland will leave BVB at the end of the season, but the signs could hardly be clearer. The Norwegian’s contract does not end until the summer of 2024, but an agreement should enable Haaland to leave Dortmund in the summer for a reported 75 million euros.

BVB is said to have started negotiations about Haaland’s successor

Real Madrid and Manchester City have always been the hottest contenders for a change in recent months. In addition, Haaland was traded at Chelsea, FC Bayern, Paris Saint-Germain and FC Barcelona.

At Borussia, the market should therefore already be explored for a replacement. Above all, Karim Adeyemi from RB Salzburg is said to have done the black and yellow. According to “Sky”, a change “only” stands in the way of an agreement on the amount of the fee. The Austrians are said to be demanding 30 to 40 million euros for the new German international. “Concrete negotiations” are said to have started in the meantime.
