Triathlete Patrick Lange will miss the first of two Ironman World Championships this year in St. George (May 7).
The two-time world champion suffered a shoulder joint injury in a wheel fall in the training camp and will probably have to take a three-month break. This was announced by his team on Saturday. In addition, Lange will not be able to take part in the Challenge Salou (3 April) as planned.
In 2022 there should be two World Championships in the Ironman, after the World Championships had been canceled for the second time in a row last year due to the corona pandemic.
In May, Hawaii will not be the venue for the first time, St. George in the US state of Utah will step in. The Ironman is scheduled to return to its traditional venue in October.
