Fraga gets pole for Sunday
Felipe Fraga secured pole for the second race on Sunday. With a time of 48.717 seconds, the Red Bull AF Corse driver set the fastest time in qualifying, which was again divided into two groups today. Next to him is Mirko Bortolotti. The second starting row is formed by Marco Wittmann and Thomas Preining. Maximilian Götz and René Rast will start the race from the third row.
Two drivers are missing
Yesterday’s race caused a big aftershock. Many drivers criticized the crash festival, the race organizers announced severe penalties for a repeat today and some of the mechanics had to work night shifts until the early hours of the morning. Two cars could not be repaired and Esteban Muth and Franck Perera are missing today.
Preining wins the crash race on Saturday
On Saturday, things got really busy at the Norisring. In a turbulent race with a total of three safety car phases and one full course yellow, Thomas Preining was able to secure victory. For the 23-year-old from Austria, it was not only the first victory in the DTM, but also the first success for Porsche in the series. Dennis Olsen made the day perfect for Porsche with second place. René Rast also ended up on the podium in a crazy race in which only eleven cars finished.
Hello and welcome to the second day of DTM racing at the Norisring. At 1:30 p.m., victory in the eighth race of the season will be awarded.
