Live ticker Bayern Munich – RB Leipzig (Bundesliga 2021/2022, 21st matchday)

VAR decision: The goal by T. Müller (Bayern Munich) is disallowed, score: 1:1

Coman to the post! On the left side of the box, Kingsley Coman starts a dangerous lob. Apparently Péter Gulácsi even got his fingertips there. The ball hits the right inner post and bounces back into the field.

Thomas Müller fires from the second row. Péter Gulácsi sees the right-footed shot late, which is also deflected. The goalkeeper reacts very well, dives into the threatened corner and deflects the ball to the side.

So everything is open again in the Allianz Arena. At least now the guests know that something is possible here. In any case, a healthy balance must be found between offensive drive and defensive saddle strength.

With this goal, André Silva draws level with Christopher Nkunku in the club’s internal scorer list. From now on, the two share the top position with their nine goals each season.

Andre Silva

Tooor for RB Leipzig, 1: 1 by André Silva

In the middle circle, the Saxons conquer the ball and off they go. Christopher Nkunku drives the attack, plays Konrad Laimer on the right in the sixteen. This lifts the game device with feeling in the direction of the long corner. Almost at the baseline next to the box, André Silva appears and pokes the thing over the line from an unfavorable angle with his left foot. Niklas Süle’s last rescue attempt came too late and was unable to prevent the Portuguese from scoring his ninth goal of the season.

But of course the opponent has a lot of offensive potential on the pitch, something can happen at any time. But now Serge Gnabry gets stuck in the box on the right.

So far the game is pretty well distributed. The lawn ballers therefore make an active contribution and are also snappy in the duels. And in view of the recent goal scenes, the guests really don’t have to lay down their arms here.

Lucas Hernandez

Yellow card for Lucas Hernández (Bayern Munich)

Lucas Hernández allows André Silva to play and ensures that referee Sven Jablonski picks up the yellow card for the first time. This is the fourth warning of the Bundesliga season for the Frenchman, making him yellow king of FC Bayern.

On the other side, Kingsley Coman is looking for a shot halfway to the left in the penalty area, but has a number of opponents around him. When falling, the Frenchman does not get a controlled left shot. Consequently, Péter Gulácsi will not be forced to intervene.

Once again it is Dani Olmo, who appears dangerously in the box and, after a pass from Christopher Nkunku to the left half, immediately pulls from the turn with his left. Repeated, however, is no getting past Manuel Neuer, who puts his paws in position.

In fact, the people of Leipzig get into the penalty area. André Silva is looking for a gap in the half-right position and wants to tunnel Lucas Hernández. The deflected ball lands on Dani Olmo, who immediately shoots with the right from about seven meters and almost catches Manuel Neuer on the wrong foot. The keeper reacts well and gets hold of the thing.

So the Herbstmeister found his way early. What else is there for the guests? Experience has shown that Munich always offer something defensively. Today as well?

Thomas Müller

Tooor for Bayern Munich, 1-0 by Thomas Müller

Leipzig wants to free themselves in a playful way, but the opponent is aggressive. The hosts get the ball. Corentin Tolisso pulls back immediately, because Robert Lewandowski swings in a half-left position. Péter Gulácsi deflects his right-footed shot to the side, but Thomas Müller lurks in the goal area, completely free-standing. With his right foot, he pushes in effortlessly. This is the seventh goal of the season in the Bundesliga for the top preparer in the league.

At the other end, Dani Olmo is much closer with his left shot from a very similar position. After a pass from José Angeliño, the Spaniard narrowly misses the left corner of the goal.

Corentin Tolisso tries his luck in a fairly central position, but seems a bit hectic in his actions. The right shot does not cause any danger, it is much too high.

The record champions are currently trying to get things under control. Julian Nagelsmann’s men now have more ball possession. You spend more and more time in the opposing half.

A little later, Gnabry appears half-left in the sixteen and shoots with his left foot. The national player does not fully catch the ball. Péter Gulácsi stops the low shot easily.

At the other end, Serge Gnabry puts in the first attempt on goal but is blocked by Joško Gvardiol, leading to the first corner kick of the encounter. This then fizzles out without yield.

After Joshua Kimmich fouled Konrad Laimer, the Saxons had their first set piece in a position slightly to the right. However, the people of Leipzig don’t do anything about it.

Leipzig does not hide. The guests want to set their own accents right from the start. At least that’s what Domenico Tedesco’s boys suggest through their approach.

With a clear sky, the temperatures in Munich have dropped to two degrees. At least no knockdowns will interfere with the gameplay. And once again, 10,000 spectators can create an atmosphere in the stands.

Incidentally, the first half of the 4th matchday went 4-1 to FC Bayern. The Rasenballer have won only one of the previous 13 competitive games against the record champions anyway – in March 2018 at home with 2: 1. In Munich, the Saxons had to be happy to get a point. This happened in the last two guest appearances (0:0, 3:3). Before that, the people of Leipzig had traveled to the Bavarian capital three times in vain and had not even scored a goal.

Leipzig is currently on four competitive wins in a row. The Red Bulls have won everything in the new year. One of the three home wins came against Hansa Rostock in the DFB Cup and meant entry into the quarter-finals. The Messestadt-based team only played away from home in Stuttgart, where they won 2-0. RB suffered their last defeat before Christmas at home against Bielefeld (0:2). In a foreign country, Union Berlin was last at a disadvantage at the beginning of December (1: 2).

However, as only the second best home team behind Dortmund, the club world champions have already suffered two bankruptcies in the Allianz Arena – the most recent at the start of the second half of the season almost a month ago against Borussia Mönchengladbach (1: 2). So the last three at home goes back to the end of the first half of the season just before Christmas. They won 4-0 against VfL Wolfsburg. Julian Nagelsmann’s men recently played away from home twice and won in Cologne (4-0) and at Hertha (4-1).

After the two-week break in the Bundesliga, the frontrunner has to deal with sixth in the table. There are a whopping 18 points between the two teams. While the title defense is all that counts for the autumn champions, the lawn ballers are fighting for a place in international business. Ideally, it should be the Champions League again. Until then, three points were missing before this matchday. Are they in today of all days? After all, the Saxons are considered to be rather weak away from home, have only won one win and scored a total of seven points and scored a manageable seven goals away from home. But a game against the record champions is always an enormous challenge. Munich are the measure of all things – with 16 wins this season, 65 goals scored and only 19 goals conceded.

Domenico Tedesco makes three changes to the guests compared to the last competitive game. Instead of Mohamed Simakan (knee injury), Benjamin Henrichs and Hugo Novoa (both on the bench), Lukas Klostermann, Nordi Mukiele and Dani Olmo will be in the Leipzig starting line-up. Tyler Adams (thigh strain) and Marcel Halstenberg (rehabilitation training) are not options today.

Both sides have seen limited activity during the most recent transfer window. No signings were made at all. There are only a few disposals, some of which are lending transactions. In any case, we are dealing with well-known personnel today. On the home side, this even led to Julian Nagelsmann sending the unchanged starting XI from the last Bundesliga game in Berlin onto the pitch. The bench is also presented with an identical line-up. Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, Bouna Sarr (both Africa Cup of Nations), Alphonso Davies (inflammation of the heart muscle) and Leon Goretzka (patella tendon problems) are currently not available for the record champions.

Welcome to the Saturday night game in the Bundesliga! As part of the 21st match day, FC Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig meet at 6:30 p.m.
