Head coach Torsten Lieberknecht from SV Darmstadt 98 does not believe in opt-out clauses in his employment contracts.
“No. When I talk about continuity as a coach, I want to go forward with 100 percent consistency myself,” said the coach of the Hessian second division soccer team in an interview with the “kicker” (Monday edition).
“Perhaps I sometimes stand in my way with that perspective. But I realize that for the moment I’m just totally happy with it.”
The 48-year-old narrowly missed out on promotion to the Bundesliga as fourth in the table with Darmstadt and extended his contract until 2025 in April.
“If I notice that a club fits, then I don’t have my own career leap in mind,” said Lieberknecht. “A club is not a springboard and not a project. At least not in my understanding of values.”
