Professional cyclist Lennard Kämna has to do without a start in the Italian gravel road race Strade Bianche on Saturday.
As his team Bora-hansgrohe announced, the 25-year-old suffers from a gastrointestinal upset and does not want to jeopardize his planned use of the Tour of the Basque Country in early April.
The tour hope Kämna returned to racing after an eight-month break due to mental problems in February and had shown good form with a stage win at the Ruta del Sol. At the Strade Bianche one-day race in the Tuscan hills, a top placement for Kämna would probably have been possible as well.
