Jusuf Nurkic and Anfernee Simons will continue in Portland except surprise

The Portland Trail Blazers already made the move they needed to make on Jerami Grant. The Oregon franchise is waiting for stars that may hit the market unexpectedly, but it is normal for its hard core to stay as it is. Free agency will begin in a few days, and the Blazers are likely to be aggressive in seeking add-ons to surround Damian Lillard with. However, the first thing on his list of priorities is to ensure the continuity of Anfernee Simons and Jusuf Nurkic, which seems practically assured.

Mark Stein ensures in his last newsletter that both are very close to reaching an agreement with the franchise. In principle, Jusuf Nurkic will reduce some of the 12 million per year of his previous signing to continue in a team that he feels like home. More complicated is the case of Simons, who will be a restricted free agent, with all that that entails. Opening a bid that the Blazers can always match could lead Portland to pay a high price for the youngster. Although since his explosion they have not put many problems in offering him the contract that he requests within limits. The figures that are handled in his case could approach 80 million for four years or go even further. In any case, most league executives assume that both will stay by Lillard’s side.
