James Bouknight’s summer has not started well. As reported by Charlotte in a press release, his young player has undergone surgery to repair a damaged tendon in his right hand.
Although it is not a serious injury, it will prevent him from being in the Las Vegas Summer League, where he was expected to see him in action after a tortuous debut campaign in the NBA.
As the 11th pick in the 2021 draft, Bouknight had a disappointing rookie year. Except for very sporadic level performances, his numbers stayed at 4.6 points and 1.7 rebounds in 8.9 minutes per night; yes, the reality is that various ailments (wrist, neck and elbow), only allowed him to play 31 games.
Beyond the sports data, he also had a notorious dispute with his coach, James Borrego. It remains to be seen how he fits into new coach Steve Clifford’s plans.
