In recent years, BVB has repeatedly tried to attract talented youngsters from Paris Saint-Germain – in some cases successfully. The French are suspicious of Dortmund’s wooing, but Borussia are apparently undeterred and are now ensnaring the next jewel of the Ligue 1 giants.
First Dan-Axel Zagadou, then Abdoulaye Kamara – and soon Ismaël Gharbi too? According to information from the renowned “France Football” magazine, a highly talented youngster from Paris could soon be moving to Dortmund again.
Gharbi’s name was first associated with BVB a year and a half ago, and since then the interest of the Westphalians has apparently not diminished.
According to reports, Borussia is monitoring the situation of the 17-year-old playmaker very closely. Gharbi’s contract with PSG expires in the summer, so far both sides have not been able to agree on an extension. If it stays that way, BVB would be ready, they say.
In addition to the Bundesliga representative, however, the reigning Champions League winner FC Chelsea should also get involved in poker for the junior national player. Blues coach Thomas Tuchel knows Gharbi from their times together in Paris.
So far, the young high-class technician has mainly played for the PSG U19s, but has also played three times in cup games for the professional team.
PSG angry about BVB poaching attempts
Should Dortmund actually be awarded the contract for Gharbi, it is unlikely to improve relations between the clubs.
In the past, those responsible for the French have regularly complained about the early poaching attempts by German clubs, especially by BVB and RB Leipzig. The Saxons have also often relied on talent from Paris in recent years.
